Savvy Savings Guru
TRAVEL SMART. SPEND LESS. EXPLORE MORE!
Using airline, hotel and credit card points & miles is a smart way to save money and enhance your travel experiences. Many credit cards offer generous sign-up bonuses and ongoing rewards that can be transferred to travel partners, allowing you to book flights and hotel stays for a FRACTION of the cost - or even for FREE!
Airline frequent flyer programs let you earn miles by flying or through everyday purchases, which can later be redeemed for flights, upgrades, or other travel perks. Similarly, hotel loyalty programs reward you with points that can be used for free nights, room upgrades or elite status benefits.
By strategically earning and redeeming these points and miles, savvy travelers can unlock significant value and enjoy luxury travel experiences at a reduced cost.

TRAVEL TIPS
Tips include
- Packing efficiently: What to bring and what NOT to bring
- Hidden gems
- Find the best local transportation
Packing efficiently
Smart packing, smooth moving.
What to bring and what NOT to bring...
Best ways to pack:
- Packing cubes (Sold on Amazon)
They come in all sizes!
(Great for families. Each can have
a different color)
Luggage is organized and the
cubes make it easy to put into
hotel dressers
- Long haul flights
I have 3 pouches in my personal
item or carry-on (whichever you
put under your seat for easy
access.
1. Tech bag (Chargers, AirPods,
power bank)
2. Snack bag (Protein bars, gum or
mints, liquid IV or similar)
3. Toiletry bag (Includes travel size
toothpaste, contact lens
solution, hand lotion,
deodorant, etc.
- Shower Caps - Use for your shoes.
Keeps everything clean in your
suitcase and you can see which
shoes you brought.
- What NOT to bring
clothing in advance. Try to select
3 colors (ex. white/tan, black and
blue). Then add tops to match
each color.
Don't overload on jewelry. It can
add weight. Airlines are getting
strict on luggage weight.
Best local transportation options...
Do some research in advance! Plan how you will get from the airport to the hotel.
Join Facebook groups for that city/country.
Many European cities have excellent transportation systems.
How to prepare in advance of your travel:
- Google what transit options are
available
- Print the maps of the metros
- Check if the metro/train is
available from the airport to your
hotel area
- Is it cheaper to purchase a train
ticket in advance
Hidden gems
A secret worth sharing
When in a new city, especially overseas, I love the Hop On-Hop Off buses. I usually take it around the whole route the first time to get a feel for the city.
I also do my homework before I arrive. What are the top sites I want to see? Do they need advance tickets?
Facebook groups for destinations, specific cruise ships, countries etc is a tremendous help. Great information is always shared.
